Intro to ALPA Dues – Where Your Dues Dollars Go

In line with messaging during the organizing drive, the first 90 days of ALPA membership are dues-free. Since the CIRB certification occurred on August 11, this period ends on November 10.

Dues Obligation Schedule:

  • Dues Commencement: ALPA dues obligations at 1.85% of pilot income will commence on November 16, 2025 (at the start of Porter pay period 23).
  • First Deduction: The first payment will be reflected in your December 12 paycheck.

The dues you pay provide you with unrivaled representation and resources. As a new ALPA member, it is important to know where your dues dollars go:

 Dues Allocation:

  • 57% goes towards ALPA’s Administrations & Services (A&S) account, which covers contract negotiations, legal fees, general operating expenses, and ALPA’s professional staff.
  • 37.5% stays with the Porter MEC account, as per the spending limit policy contained in the ALPA Constitution & Bylaws.
  • 2% funds your local council’s budget to fund local initiatives
  • 3.5% is placed into the OCF account for special projects and contingency funds that benefit all ALPA pilots.
Page-One

The current ALPA dues rate is 1.85% of "duesable income" (reduced a few years ago from 1.90%). Duesable income includes salary, overtime, bonuses, etc., but exempts per diem, furlough income, and employer contributions to moving expenses.

For complete details on duesable income and allocation, please visit Dues & Financial Obligations, or see section 60 J of the Admin Manual.
