our history

Porter started as a small company with a handful of airplanes. The pilots were on a first-name basis with the founder and CEO. Porter’s management and pilots have had a great relationship from the start and have worked hard to maintain it over the years. In short, our pilots feel heard by the company.

Porter is now on track to become a major airline. All pilot groups at major airlines in North America are represented by a union, except Porter.

This good working relationship has served us well and provided the growth opportunities we now enjoy. As is inevitable for an airline with growth and expansion as meteoric as Porter, we have outgrown our current process. We believe turning to the collective bargaining process with ALPA representation will provide a stronger foundation for the mutual success of Porter and Porter pilots.

"I could see that unless we got a pilots’ association with real power, there wouldn’t be enough money in airline flying to make it worth my effort. I would have to go back to slipsticking at a desk, and I didn’t want that; I wanted to keep flying.”
