Fellow pilots at Porter Airlines,
Once again, welcome to the Air Line Pilots Association!
You've likely read it in past emails from your Organizing Committee: ALPA is pilot led and staff supported. But in order to be pilot led, we need you--the pilots. We pride ourselves on being a democratic organization, run from the bottom up. Every pilot has a vote, and that vote is your voice.
But you lose that voice if you’re not a member.
That’s why our first objective as we welcome you to ALPA is a membership campaign. Your colleagues who filled out a membership card during the organizing campaign automatically became an ALPA member, gaining access to the Association’s resources.
As you did not complete a membership card during the organizing campaign, you must complete ALPA’s online Membership Application in order to become an active ALPA member. The sooner we receive your application, the faster we can activate your benefits.
Based on information provided by your company, we have entered you into our member database as a nonmember and established your ALPA ID as wsadmin.
Be sure to enter that ID when completing the membership application. Once you’ve submitted the form, you’ll receive a confirmation email from ALPA welcoming you to the Association as an active member and you’ll have access to all of ALPA’s resources.
As I mentioned in my last email, ALPA has appointed interim representatives in each local council, with elections to come once the membership campaign is complete. But if you are not an active member in good standing, you will not be able to vote in the upcoming election. ALPA has set a goal of 90 percent membership for the Porter pilot group before conducting these elections, so please complete your membership application today to reach that goal--and to ensure that you have a voice when elections are held.
