April 25, 2025
Fellow Porter Pilots,
Below we bring you introductions to more members of the Porter Pilots for Change Organizing Committee (OC) in our regular “Meet the OC” messages. We think it’s important to share with you the reasons our OC members are motivated to join ALPA.
As we mentioned last week, we are holding an all-pilot call next week--on Tuesday, April 29, at 1:00 p.m. EDT. Come learn more about the organizing campaign and ask any questions you might have. You can see the access information below.
We’ll also post a link on the Porter Pilots for Change OC website at poe.alpa.org.

Quinn Henderson, E2 First Officer, YYZ
Hello everyone! My name is Quinn Henderson and I’m one of your Porter Pilots for Change OC members. I started at Porter in September 2023 as a YYZ-based E2 first
officer.
On my time off I love to cook, watch movies with my wife, and spend time with my family at the cottage.
I’m incredibly passionate about workers’ rights and the important role unions play in protecting those rights and advocating for workers. Having worked at ALPA carriers before, I’ve seen just how powerful a unified group of like-minded pilots can be and how motivated ALPA is to fight for safer working conditions.
I have loved my time working with my fellow Porter pilots. Unfortunately, I have found myself becoming more and more frustrated with the company. While the FOAG has been working incredibly hard to fight for pilots, the company doesn’t provide them with the necessary time or resources required. Considering the rapid increase in the size of the company and the amount of pilots working for Porter, I believe that ALPA would provide the support that we need to have proper representation in this ever-changing industry.
I wholeheartedly believe in ALPA and having a unified group and that’s why I joined the OC.

Ryan Sullivan, E2 Captain, YYZ
I joined Porter in 2011 as a Q400 FO based in YTZ, and through the years climbed my way to Q400 Captain YTZ, then came over to the E2 in class 6 near the beginning of our E2 operation.
On a day off as a downtown dweller, you’ll find me shopping at St. Lawrence Market to cook at home or dining out at local restaurants and attending arts and culture events in our great city. I also run a small wine business, so food and wine are certainly my passions.
I’d like to use this time and platform to thank our FOAG representatives for their effort through the years. However, I believe it’s time for a different structured approach moving forward.
The reason I support ALPA is the peace of mind knowing the plethora of support teams we will receive by joining ALPA. If I ever have to pick up the phone and dial that number, I have a team dedicated to my needs, whatever the circumstances may be.
This profession demands a lot from us, and I’d feel better knowing we have professionals across industries ready to support us, if ever in need. Our profession is 24/7/365, and so is ALPA’s global support network (IFALPA).

Mike Falk, E2 Captain, YYZ
As a proud father and husband, you will find me spending most of my time with my family up in the great white north of Thunder Bay. Here we spend much of our time outdoors on the lakes in the summer or hiking with the family and dogs.
Born and raised in northwestern Ontario, I grew up in an aviation family. This of course led to my passion in aviation and wanting to follow in my dad’s footsteps.
After a career spanning two decades I decided to make the move to Porter in November 2022 after hearing nothing but great things about our airline. I joined early in the E2 start-up as a DEC and have witnessed all my colleagues step up, whether on the DH8 or E2, to make this expansion work and thrive to what it has become today.
Early on in our start-up I got to personally experience the Porter effect that I continually heard about, which made me extremely excited to be here. However as the time went on I began to realize that the Porter effect is waning and it reminded me of my time at previous operators.
This gave me great concern, as Porter is a fantastic company with endless potential. However, recent events made me realize that we need professional resources and assistance--to which ALPA is the only choice.
Having been part of a negotiations team and seeing what ALPA can provide really makes me believe the best way forward for all Porter pilots is to join the ranks of ALPA and have a true voice and say in our work rules.

We’ll be sharing more from our OC members in the coming weeks as well as more information about ALPA and how joining ALPA as one unified group can benefit us all.
For example, in last week’s email we learned more about the Data Action Report program, or DART--one of many ALPA resources that will be available to us. Throughout the group discussions and the one-on-one conversations, we’ve had as part of the organizing process, we hear time and time again about frustrations with pay errors, FOAG rules/bulletins, and unanswered emails. DART, when implemented here at Porter, will help Porter pilots get their questions directed to the right volunteers with timely responses.
Have you missed one of our earlier emails? You can read through all of our emails on the Communications page of the Porter OC website.
